REVERE GOLF CLUB PROMISES “REVOLUTIONARY” GOLF EXPERIENCE
HENDERSON, NEV. -- The Revere Golf Club
is the first of four new high-end, daily fee golf courses planned for
Del Webb’s Anthem Community in the southeast corner of the Las Vegas
Valley in Henderson, Nevada. The Revere’s first golf course, which was
designed by PGA legend Billy Casper and architect Greg Nash, broke
ground December 1997 and opened for daily-fee play April 17, 1999. A
second Revere course, also designed by Casper/Nash, broke ground in the
fall of 2000 and is expected to open for daily-fee play early 2002.
“We
provide players with a golf experience they won’t find anywhere else,”
said Director of Golf Clay Meininger. “The golf course is set in the
floor of a desert canyon. The typography has tremendous variety and
great views of the Valley extending all the way to downtown Las Vegas.
Plus, we provide services and amenities you only expect from fine,
private clubs.”
The Revere is located only
minutes from the famed Las Vegas Strip and provides a convenient and
thrilling desert golf experience to the 30-plus million annual visitors
to Las Vegas. At the same time, the course provides a unique amenity to
the Anthem community.
“We’ve created an atmosphere that is
conducive to the needs of the tourists as well as to the homeowners,”
Meininger said. “The addition of The Revere provides Vegas golfers with
exceptional variety and challenge. Plus the space of the course serves
to create some dramatic views for the residents.”
In designing the 7,143-yard, par-72 Revere course, Casper/Nash & Associates
were dedicated to creating an experience that would be different from
those currently available in the surrounding Las Vegas golf course
communities.
“The land is perfect for a golf course,” Nash
said. “It is built directly into the desert canyons which provides
natural elevation changes and a feeling of seclusion from the outside
commotion of the city. It is also unique because it doesn’t look like
other golf course communities. The houses are on the rim of the canyon
rather than being dispersed throughout the course. This style of set-up
allows players more freedom and superior, unobstructed views of the
course and city below.”
Nash also created several waterfalls
that make this course even more dynamic in its natural setting. This
feature is especially prominent on the 490-yard, par 5 No. 7 hole. The
hole is played off the side of a canyon on to a wide fairway below.
From there, players have to go back up to the green that lies at the
end of a box canyon. The view from the fairway gives players the
illusion of shooting into the waterfall because of its positioning
behind the green.
The Revere is a centerpiece to Sun City Anthem, an age-qualified, active-adult golf community by the Del Webb Corporation.
Along with Sun City, the 13,000-home Anthem community will feature the
Anthem Country Club and conventional neighborhoods built by Del Webb’s
Coventry Homes.
